Shiya padded carefully through the forest, her nose keen for any scent. She did not want to make a bad impression by walking straight over the border. Finally, a distinctive border scent drifted toward her. It was faint, so she assumed that the pack was either small, or was busy elsewhere. She took another step then settled herself into a sitting position, resting her tired legs. Her chest swelled with a deep breath, held for an instant before she let loose a powerful howl.
She held it until her breath ran out, finishing with a rather anti-climactic whistle. Taking another breath and letting it out, she pricked her ears up, waiting for a response. It had been a while since she'd tried to find a pack this way and she almost wasn't sure if she remembered the proper way to act. But with any luck, it would all fall back into place.

Nexus heard the howl. The Jagara Pack lands were close to her own. She waved her way towards where it had come from. About ten meters away, she let out a loud, long howl, telling whoever it was that had first howled, that an Alphess was on her way.
After she finished she padded forward again more slowly. She was curious about the new comer. She always was. A scent hit her. A fae Diping lower, she made her way forward even more slowly.

A howl reverberated through the forest and Shiya pricked her ears. An Alphess, she recognized, Well, that was what she was looking for, wasn't it? The old wolf shook herself to remove any twigs that were caught in her coat.
"Welladay," she murmured. "I guess this is it then." Shiya lifted her head alertly, searching for the Alphess that was coming her way.

Nexus padded almost inaudibly toward the fae she had heard. Her searching eyes picked her up almost at once. Lifting her head higher, she paced over to the older wolf.
"Good day. I am Nexus, Alphess of Digata. You're presence is welcome her, friend."
She looked the wolf over quickly, noting with satisfaction the plain signs that she had once ruled too.

Shiya dipped her head respectfully. "I am Shiya. Thank you for welcoming me, I seek a new home here." She chose not to elaborate on the point, as many would think she was looking for pity if she told them.
She lifted her head and scented the wind again. "There seems to be quite a few packs in this area. Do you all live in harmony?" It was best to know as much as possible about the surrounding packs, you never knew when you were about to walk into a feud-ridden land. And doing so usually ended in tragedy.

Nexus hesitated.
"Well... most are. Digata and Dagona are not... the best of friends and Remos lives to fight. But otherwise the land is peaceful."
ooc:// Sorry for the long wait and short post- exams, you know?

Shiya thought for a moment, absorbing the information about the rival packs.
"I think I need an explanation," she said thoughtfully. "Would you mind telling me a little more about the packs? Mostly about the frequency with which battles occur. I have no wish to live a warriors life."

Nexus sighed and sat down.
"You have the right to know the History of these lands."
She looked away at the horizon, and then began.
"The land was paradise. Times could be rough in the winter, yes, but there was no major friction between the two packs. They kept their distance from one another, only coming face to face very rarely. It was on once such an occasion that Killion fell in love with the rival’s ‘star’. He was destined to become their new leader; no one had any doubts about that. He did not return her love, however. She went to him three times to beg for his tolerance. Twice she was shunned. The third time she was killed.
No one knows how her life was taken; all they do know was that, a day later Hixon was found dying in the river. His last words were that all that all the secrets will become known when they find the Circle of Illumination. The two deaths, only a day apart, were the causes of paradise turning to a living hell.
The two packs split into five, each believing that they knew how the two wolven were killed.
The Jagara pack: They are the pack that welcomes all new loners. Very few of their pack members stay long, as they find more comfort in the other two packs. The wolven in this pack come, and then leave almost as quickly as the rain starts and stops. They do not know what to believe about the deaths of Hixon and Killion, so they do not interfere at all.
The Terros pack: They are the peacemakers. No living thing shall be harmed without a very good cause. They believe that the deaths of Hixon and Killion were natural, and they will do anything to stop the war that threatens to come.
The Remmos pack: They are the warriors. They live for bloodshed, even if it is just watching the battle. Their biggest grievance is the Terros pack, and they pay little attention to the other three. Their ‘Greatest Day’ will come when they over-power the Terros pack and show them that war is the only answer, and that no matter how the two wolven died, war would have solved it.
The Digata pack: The descendants of Killion. They believe that Killion was murdered, and they will wage war to avenge her, but they are a gentle pack; the ‘good’ side, if you will call them that.
The Dagona pack: The descendants of Hixon’s pack. They are ruthless in their quest to avenge their pride and Hixon’s innocence. They are so ruthless at times (most times) that they can be down right merciless. They are the ‘evil’ pack. "
She paused for breath, then closed it off.
"The battles are not too frequent, as there are very little wolven in these lands."

The older wolf bowed her head and closed her eyes, absorbing the history and what it implied. It was certainly a curious predicament and Shiya had lived for too long to think that it was as simple as the five packs thought.
She lifted her head and opened her eyes, their pale brown gaze slightly troubled. "I am almost certain that there is more to what happened than what is known, yet I do believe that they were killed." She paused, drawing a few breaths. "I feel that I would side with the Terros pack, as I do not think that war should solve anything between these packs." Shiya's somber face suddenly took on an impish grin, much to young for her apparent age. "You seem rather impartial for being the Alphess of Digata, but I appreciate that."
